Another tragic loss

You may recall that B and I "accidentally" went to a wedding in November. It was in Princeton, and a member of the wedding party invited us to go down and have the use of their paid-for hotel room. But when the bride heard we were in town, she asked us to attend. So we went, in jeans and boots (B wearing, literally, the shirt off his friend's back), and it was a lovely ceremony (if a bit awkward for us). The bride and groom were glowing.

Husband and wife welcomed their son, Joseph, into the world in January. He was born premature, due to complications with the pregnancy. He never left the neonatal intensive care unit, and the mother (who has looked forward to starting a family for years) spent every day in the hospital with him.

Unfortunately baby Joseph passed away yesterday, after just 110 days in this world. His parents find comfort in knowing that he will not suffer in the next.

I can not imagine a greater grief than that of a mother for her child. My heart goes out to them.
