Sunny California

I had a great week and a lovely family reunion. I will blog in more detail once I get pictures from my family.

Tomorrow will be my third attempt to get Serena and Rorschach spayed. Everyone cross your fingers.

Japanese Restaurant Week

So last week was Japanese Restaurant Week in New York. Only a few restaurants participated, including mine, and it sure was crazy. By the time I arrived for work yesterday at 5:30, we already reservations for 230 people. We had more reservations than there were tables, and we were under immense pressure to turn, turn, turn. Add on top of that my bruised foot and a shadow trainee, and things were pretty hectic. Still I think it was a success. B and his friends finally came by last night and apparently enjoyed it a lot. And though there were a strange number of injuries among the staff (Cindy hurt her leg last night and various and kitchen and bar people have suffered cuts) and Spring Forward kind of threw us off, I think we came out relatively unscathed.

Only thing is I was supposed to 1) see Rebecca at some point this week before she left for Buenos Aires, which never happened, and 2) talk to her on the phone before she left - we scheduled as a last resort 8 o'clock this morning, but when my alarm went off I was so confused as to why it was going off that I ignored it - and 3) see 300 with Darren and his friends yesterday (only I woke at 10am feeling awful and headachey and really angry, so I cancelled on him).

Well I'm looking forward to next week in California. Sounds like my sister has a lot of ideas for how to spend our time. I never get to go out or do anything here in New York (B and I repeatedly made plans to try some places for Japanese Restaurant Week, but we never made it out), so I'm really looking forward to whatever we can do... with a little relaxation on the side too.

In heat

Yes, Serena and Rorschach are in heat again, for what seems like the tenth time this year. What does a girl have to do to get her cats spayed?!! I've already made three trips out to the upper west side in the hopes of getting it done, but no luck. I am so angry with Ansonia... if you live in the city and have pets, I suggest you don't go there. They just seemed intent on making things as difficult and as expensive for me as possible. I finally called K, the lady from whome we adopted, and told her what was going on, and she arranged for us to go to a different vet. So now I have an appointment scheduled for March 20th and hopefully that will be the end of that. But I'm not going to hold my breath.

In other news my Kaplan class is over. And boy does that feel good. Not sure how the kids are going to do, but I wish them the best. I still haven't received any payment though, so I am not signing up to teach anymore classes for now. I may choose not to teach any until the summer actually, just cos I have other things to do.

Looking forward to spring break.
