So I got the nomination. They didn't inform me 'til the 14th, but it's been rush rush rush ever since. Brown has a crazy timeline, including submission of AMCAS by next Friday, January 25th. So I've been working on my personal statement and ordering transcripts and badgering people about recommendations all week.
I didn't think I was that stressed out about it, but the last few nights I've been restless, dreaming about the personal statement and my unknown Bio lab grade (which was finally posted this morning). Well I finally submitted a draft of the statement to my advisor yesterday, and B read it and said it didn't need that much work actually. That's quite a surprise.
A TA from last semester is going the standard route, and he's had seven interviews so far. I consider that a success story. He said they've all focused on his personal statement, so I need to really polish mine.
But the director of the Emergency Dept at the hospital said it's the interview that really matters; the personal statement is just a foot in the door. As far as I can tell, I'm guaranteed an interview, so maybe I shouldn't be so stressed out at this point.
Now who do I go to for interview help? I guess the postbac committee will interview me at the end of the month. Maybe that's supposed to be practice?
